İstanbul Kültür University

In cooperation with the Sustainable Development Centre (SURKAM), Dean of Students Office Kültür Point and Design Factory, “Sustainable You Talks: Transforming World, Responsible Individual” event was organized on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in the Design Factory at the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus. Within the scope of the event, panels were organized on the three main dimensions of sustainability: on social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

The second seminar titled "Losing While Thinking You've Won: Fighting Addiction and Rehabilitation" was organized in collaboration with Istanbul Kültür University, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), IMM Campus Solution Unit, and the Social Adaptation Support Center (UDEM).

The seminar, held on Monday, March 17, 2025, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, aimed to raise awareness about gambling addiction as well as other types of addiction.

The ERA-Chair project "Spectroscopy@IKU: Manipulating and Characterizing Molecular Architectures: from Isolated Molecules to Molecular Crystals," the first project in Türkiye funded by the European Research Agency (ERA) under the Horizon Europe Framework - Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area (WIDERA) ERA-CHAIRS Programme, is progressing at full speed, and we at Istanbul Kültür University are proud to continue our work on this groundbreaking project.

The ERA-Chair Spectroscopy@IKU Project, being implemented at Istanbul Kültür University (IKU), holds the distinction of being the first project in Türkiye to receive funding from the European Research Agency (ERA) under the Widening Participation and Strengthening the European Research Area (WIDERA) ERA-Chairs Programme within the Horizon Europe Framework. The project underwent the first on-site monitoring visit by the EU Project Offıcer Dr. Karina Firkaviciute on Feb 3.

A team from Istanbul Kültür University’s Physical and Natural Sciences Advanced Research Center (IKU-SPECTRA), consisting of Vice Rector and IKU-SPECTRA Director Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, ERA Chair Prof. Dr. Rui Fausto, TTO Director Cüneyt Genç, and Researcher Dr. Bahadır Bozkurt, visited Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM).

The project ERA-Chair Spectroscopy@IKU: Manipulating and Characterizing Molecular Architecture: from Isolated Molecules to Molecular Crystals, is an innovative initiative in Türkiye, being the first to receive funding from the European Research Agency (ERA) under the Horizon Europe Framework. The project with 2.5 million euros budget is led by ERA Chair Coordinator and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gülce Öğrüç Ildız, while the research team is directed by ERA Chairholder Prof. Dr.

Istanbul Kültür University's (IKU) membership application for European University Association (EUA) has been approved. The EUA represents more than 850 universities in more than 40 countries in Europe and is active in a wide range of areas, from the development of policy in higher education to cooperation in research and education. İKÜ's EUA membership will not only further enhance the quality of education, but also provide students with more opportunities and experiences in a globalized world.

  As part of the Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Design Factory's 2024-2025 academic year promotion and information activities, various presentations were organized in collaboration with different departments of our university. These comprehensive promotional activities, in which new informative presentations are also planned, attracted great interest from our students.

Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Underwater Club (IKUSAT) carried out training and development dives at the Dive Academy Diving Center in Bodrum between October 26-29, 2024, with the participation of 4 graduates and 4 students under the guidance of club advisor Cemal Turan.

Istanbul Kültür University celebrated the 101st anniversary of the declaration of the Turkish Republic on Tuesday, October 29, with a ceremony held at the front garden of the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy Campus. Attended by the Board of Trustees, the Rectorate, deans, and academic and administrative staff, the event began with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Atatürk bust.
