İstanbul Kültür University (İKÜ) Head of the Board of Trustees Bahar Akıngüç Günver published a message about the IKU agenda, which has changed with the new Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19). Dear Kültür Family,
During the pandemic days; we have left another week behind where we experienced different dimensions of communication, sharing and solidarity.
First of all, despite all the difficulties, it was our pride and honor to be able to celebrate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day by embracing Kültür values. The 100th year special program of Kültür College and Kültür2000 College, which are the architects of our root values and the inspiration of our founding foundation; took its place in our corporate memory as a symbol of hope, family, teacher, student solidarity, and mobilization of values. I am sure this moment for the Kültür Generations that grew up after us; despite the difficulties of life, will be a guide to stick to values stubbornly.
In addition to this, Kültür College is excited by a very nice work called Nobel Kültürü, which will be proud of us all, and will symbolize the value we place on the light of science and mind during the week of April 27, 2020. Kültür College and Kültür2000 College, which offer the value of science to their students with life education within the scope of the Nobel Prizes in recent years, held a tradition by showing a more marvelous stance despite the pandemic. As of April 27, in the live broadcasts on Kültür College's Instagram account, a Nobel Interview series will be held with names such as Didier Queloz, the winner of the 2019 Nobel Physics Prize, M. Stanley Whittingham the Winner of the 2019 Chemistry, and Joachim Frank the Winner of the 2017 Nobel Chemistry Award. As Istanbul Kültür University, I sincerely believe that we will support this effort of our Kültür teachers and youth. Dear Kültür Family, Young people, as well as children, are very valuable for the Kültür Family. At the beginning of last week; our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer met with our students from our Instagram corporate account, moderated by Neslihan Fatma Er, Head of Kültür Point Department. Meeting with young people in a transparent and clear dialogue environment is one of the strongest proofs of the value we give them. I would like to thank Prof. Dr. Nihal Sarıer who sincerely and patiently answers questions of our students, especially in applied education, changes in the academic calendar; and also I want to thanks all my workmates who contributed to the live broadcast; and I wish it continued. The updates on the academic calendar, which is also on the agenda of the Rectorate Office live broadcast, is a very important development in the context of business processes of all our staff. Following the spring semester ending on May 15, final exams will begin on June 1, 2020. After the end of the spring semester; I sincerely believe that we will continue our studies at the point of sustainability of education and communication for both summer education and prospective students without slowing down and we will deal with processes in solidarity. In the days of the pandemic, today, there was another development that made us understand once again how powerful the Kültür experience we have is. Despite the restrictions that turned into the reality of the new normal, I started the day full of hope. Hürriyet Newspaper Education Editor Nuran Çakmakçı shared our Honorary President Master of Engineer Fahamettin Akıngüç’s letter in the column which he shared with us in the past weeks. I looked at the lines of the letter again from a journalist's window… Yes, this is a life lesson and these days will pass… We will stubbornly hopefully overcome these times… My Dear Workmates During this time, the tone of the feedback or the criticism of the processes, especially about the practical lessons from our students, can sometimes be sharp. However, our young people go through an extraordinary process well beyond their age. Our students under the age of 20 which is the age group of our prep, first and second grades are trying to cope with the curfew and the quarantine reality. Our students who are at the graduation stage, and our students who will be the senior students (4th grade) after a few months are also experiencing the stress of going to live in an economically difficult and complex period. Of course, this process is very weary for everyone, all of you, all of us. However, let's not let go of the understanding of being an adult and empathy as a calm power; and most importantly, let's keep our hope that these days are temporary. On one hand while trying to protect the health of ourselves and our immediate environment, on the other hand trying to protect our business and internal balances, I would like to share once again that our endurance, understanding and empathy are our greatest support in this uncertain process; and I also wish to meet with health and happiness in our campuses as soon as possible. With my compliments, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver İKÜ Head of the Board of Trustees |
