The IKU IEEE Astra Rocket Team, advised by our faculty member Assist. Prof. Okay Işık from the Department of Industrial Engineering, achieved 5th place in the “Mid-Altitude” category among 33 teams, and won the “Best Design” plaque award at the TEKNOFEST 2024 Rocket Competition. As part of the recognition, Dr. Burhan Şahin, ROKETSAN Manager of Rocketry Activities and Test Range Coordination, visited our university on Monday, November 18. During the ceremony held in the office of our Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe, award tablets were presented to the students. We congratulate our IEEE Astra Rocket Team, and wish them continued success.

The Istanbul Kültür University Design Factory hosted an event titled “Big Mistakes of Entrepreneurs,” shedding light on the world of entrepreneurship. The event, held on Wednesday, November 20, in the Design Factory at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building, featured Özkan Yağız, Founder of the PitGrowth initiative, and Mürsel Ferhat Sağlam, Founder of Branding Türkiye, as speakers. During the event, inspiring discussions were held on the common mistakes entrepreneurs make and ways to overcome them.

In scope of the World Diabetes Day, the Healthy Nutrition Club organized an event titled “Diabetes Awareness: Educate, Prevent, Manage” on Thursday, November 14, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. The guest speakers, including Dietitian Specialist Abdulhakim Karatoprak, Dietitian Specialist Yeşim Nemutlu Torun, Physiotherapist Deren Velioğlu, and Nurse Ahmet Beler, informed students about proper nutrition, importance of physical activity, and the role of healthcare services.

The first session of the Ceramic Workshop, organized in cooperation with the Dean of Students Office Kültür Point and Özyazıcı Special Education Vocational School, was held on Tuesday, November 19, at the Ceramic Workshop in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In the workshop organized for individuals with hearing impairs, students had a colourful experience with the support of our instructor Özhan Pak.

Ten hearing-impaired students from Özyazıcı Special Education Vocational School had the opportunity to develop their creativity and hand skills.

The second session of the workshop will be held on Thursday, November 28.

The article titled "Respect and Struggles for Recognition: Kant and Honneth" by Assoc. Prof. Selda Salman, Head of the Department of Common Courses, has been published in the international philosophy journal Con-Textos Kantianos. The article aims to offer a new evaluation of the relationship between respect and recognition in social struggles, based on Kant's moral philosophy. 

The Molecular Biology and Genetics Club organised a talk titled “The Importance of Organ Donation” to raise awareness among students on the importance of organ donation and current developments in this process within the scope of “Organ Donation Week.” Assist. Prof. Amil Hüseynov from Medicana Hospital participated as a speaker in the event held at 17:00 on Thursday, November 14, in the Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus.

IKU Design Factory has once again became the meeting point of art and entertainment. The theme of the "Factory Acoustic" concert held on Thursday, November 21, at the Design Factory in Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus, was "Turkish Pop". Orchestra IKU offered a truly mesmerizing music feast to the audience with their stage performance. The enthusiasm and energy felt in every note gave the participants unforgettable moments.

This special event, which blended music and entertainment, added another colour to the creative atmosphere of the Design Factory.

The Department of Foreign Languages Education organized an event titled “International Project Preparation and Application Processes” on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 11:00 to 13:00, at the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall. Turkish Language and Literature Teacher İlker Bayrak and English Teacher Gülden Bayrak from Büyükçekmece District Directorate of National Education and English Teacher Özgü Öztürk from Büyükçekmece Atatürk Anatolian High School attended the event as speakers.

The Informatics and Technology Law Club organized a visit to Aksan Law Firm on Friday, November 8. Lawyer Seda Yılmaz and Lawyer Oktay Şener hosted our students, discussed current issues, and shared their thoughts on the future of the legal profession.

The Program of Computer Programming organised a technical trip to Tech Istanbul Şişhane on Tuesday, November 19, in order to keep the pulse of the sector and to see the innovations at the heart of technology closely. Our students learned about many topics, from software development processes to innovative projects, and had the opportunity to meet with professionals in the sector. This enjoyable and educational experience broadened the professional horizons of our students and inspired them.

The Department of Foreign Languages Education organized the “Alumni Panel” on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 14:00 to 16:00, at the Küçükçekmece Campus Conference Hall. Our alumni Lecturer Başak Yağmur and Lecturer Gülşah Köse, who participated as speakers, shared their post-graduation experiences with our students.

The Leadership and Management Club held the "Coffee Workshop" event on Saturday, November 9, to bring together members who are interested in coffee culture and to provide them with information about coffee brewing techniques and the characteristics of coffee beans. In the workshop, which was held at Harmonist Cafe in Kadıköy, accompanied by a professional barista, the participants both gained theoretical knowledge and had the opportunity to put this knowledge into practice by brewing their own coffee.

Gizep Sayın, and Ceren Kabaoğlu, one of our graduates, participated as speakers in the seminar held on Monday, November 18th, within the scope of the “IE7405-Supply Chain Management” course given in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

The Law Club organized an event titled “Unsolved Cases” on Monday, November 4, 2024, in Lecture Hall 2 at the Bahçelievler Campus. Forming groups of four, students solved fictional cases using clues.

Ufuk Özongun participated as a speaker in a seminar held on Thursday, November 21, as part of the “IE3501-Economics” course given in the Department of Industrial Engineering.

The Law Club organized a trip to the Bahçelievler Animal Sterilization and Rehabilitation Center on Wednesday, November 20, in order to promote love for animals, learn about the activities of animal shelters and raise awareness.

The Law Club organized a visit to the Yavuz & Uyanık Attorney Partnership office in Etiler on Friday, November 15 to support students' career planning processes.

The Program of Tourism and Hotel Management students attended a “Cruise Transportation and Marinas” training session at Galataport Istanbul on Monday, November 18, 2024. Following the training, our students toured the bonded areas and visited historical and touristic sites in the region accompanied by a Professional Tour Guide.

An event titled "Mexico, Belize, Guatemala" was organized by the Vocational School on Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Emeritus Prof. Dr. Güler Ertan participated as a speaker in the event, where topics were discussed to gain different perspectives on photography.

The second-year students of the Vocational School Program of Public Relations and Publicity visited the TÜYAP Fair as part of the “TÜYAP Fair Management” course. During the visit, students learned about the functioning of fair organizations and had the opportunity to meet professionals in the sector.

Kültür College will host a free “Science Show” event for children on Saturday, November 23, between 11.00-12.00 at the KEV Performance Centre.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Education and the Teachers Academy Foundation (ÖRAV), a program will be organized to celebrate “24 November Teachers’ Day”. On Monday, November 25, between 10.00-16.00, Küçükçekmece campus will host a panel discussion on “Teaching from Theory to Practice, from Practice to Theory”. Afterwards, “Happiness Workshop within the Scope of Positive Psychology Applications in Education” and “Sustainable Environment Workshop” events will take place.

In cooperation with the Faculty of Health Sciences and Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Health, “Organ Donation Awareness Symposium” will be organized to raise awareness to increase organ donation. The event, where experts in the field will be speakers, will be held on Monday, November 25 at 10.00 a.m. at the Faculty of Health Sciences Building C Block B1 Seminar Hall on the Bahçelievler Campus.

The Department of Radio, Television, and Cinema will organize a workshop titled “Ways of Seeing in Documentary” in order to inform the students about the historical progression of documentary, a genre of cinema, and the dynamics of the genre. The event, where Director & Academician Hasan Demirtaş will be the speaker, will be held on Monday, November 25, at 13.00 at the 4th floor multi-purpose hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The Law Club will organize a "Case Resolution Game-II" event on Monday, November 25, at 13:00, in Lecture Hall 3 of the Faculty of Law at the Bahçelievler Campus to offer law students an entertaining case resolution experience.

The Department of Industrial Engineering will organize an 'Erasmus Talk' event on Monday, November 25, at 14:30, in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy building, where students who participated in the Erasmus program will share their experiences.

A "Ceramic Workshop" event will be organized in cooperation with the Dean of Students Office - Kültür Point Professional Career Development Coordinatorship and Özyazıcı Middle School for the Hearing Impaired. The event, which aims to enhance the hand skills of hearing-impaired students and support their socialization, will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:00, in the Ceramics Workshop at the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Department of Educational Sciences and the Bahçelievler Guidance and Research Center, a panel titled “Peer Bullying in Schools” will be organized to support students' personal development and career planning processes. The event, where Assoc. Prof. Durmuş Ümmet from Marmara University and Assoc. Prof. Yavuz Samur from Bahçeşehir University will be the speakers, will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:00, in the Akıngüç Auditorium and Art Center at the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The opening of the social benefit project, which will be carried out in cooperation with the Istanbul Kültür University Sustainable Development Center (IKU SÜRKAM), the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Relations with Civil Society, the Women’s Association in Business World, and Istanbul Gedik University, will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 10:30, in the Design Factory at the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In collaboration with the Effective Communication Club and the Department of Communication Arts, a panel talk titled "Albinism and Communication Secrets" will be held to inform students about overcoming life's obstacles to achieve success in business life. The talk, where Turkcell Communication Manager Ayşenur Sena Tarakçı will be the speaker, will be held on Tuesday, November 26, at 12:00 in the 1st Floor Multi-Purpose Hall in the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

The "Speaking Club" event will be organized in cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office and the English Language Teaching Club in order to provide language practice with instructors for students and staff who have difficulty speaking English. The event will be hosted by the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus on Tuesday, November 26 at 17:00.

A charity bazaar will be organized by the Animal Protection and Survival Club on Wednesday, November 27th, on the ground floor of the Ataköy building in the Bakırköy campus in order to meet the clinic and food needs of our little friends on our campuses.

In cooperation with Deep Learning Club, Technology Club, Informatics and Technology Law Club, Animal Protection and Survival Club, and Artificial Intelligence Clubs Association, an event titled “AI Area Istanbul” will be organised where many interviews will be held to inform students about artificial intelligence. The event, where speakers will be experts in their fields, will be held on Wednesday, November 27th, between 10:00 and 17:00 at the Ataköy building on the Bakırköy campus.

The Department of Special Education will organise a trip to Bağcılar Municipality Palace for the Disabled on Wednesday, November 27, in order to provide students with information about the institution.

A talk titled "Digital Marketing in the Automotive Sector" will be organized in collaboration with the IKU Marketing Club, the Program of Business Management, and the Program of Foreign Trade in order to inform students about digital marketing applications and current approaches in the automotive sector. The event, where Serdar Köseoğlu, Sales Business Management Unit Manager of Mercedes Benz Inc., will be the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 27 at 13:00 in the 1A01 numbered lecture hall in the İncirli building of the Bakırköy campus.

The Program of Tourism and Hotel Management will organize the "Marriott Hotel Şişli Career Days" event on Wednesday, November 27 at 15:00 to support students' career planning processes.

IKU Faculty of Science and Letters continues to organize the “Coffee Is Just an Excuse Meetings” to share studies that are significant in terms of research and analysis in the field of Basic Science and Social Sciences. The seminar titled “A Utopia Traveler: Şevket Süreyya Aydemir,” featuring Lecturer İsa Kocakaplan from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature as the speaker, will be held on Wednesday, November 27, at 15:00, in the Erdal İnönü Seminar Hall at the Ataköy Building of the Bakırköy Campus.

In cooperation with the Kültür Point of the Dean of Students Office and the English Language and Literature Club, a “Creative Writing Club” event will be organized for students and staff who want to improve their English writing skills through practice. The event will be hosted at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building on Wednesday, November 27, at 17:00.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will organize the "Energy Markets and Sustainability Seminar" on Thursday, November 28 at 11:00 in Seminar Hall 2 at the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus. Business Development Manager Ali Hakan Everekli will be attending the seminar as a speaker.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics will organize an event titled "Occupational Health and Laboratory: Biosafety Rules" to increase awareness of occupational health and safety and encourage the creation of safe working environments. The event, where one of our MOBIGEN academicians, Assist. Prof. Sinan Meriç, and our Occupational Health and Safety Expert, Cumhur Gültekin, will be speakers, will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 14:30 in the Prof. Dr. Atilla Özalpan Seminar Hall.

Dr. Ekrem Teymur, Founder of Haberler.com, will attend the second of the event series titled "Big Mistakes of Entrepreneurs" organized by the IKU Design Factory, as a guest speaker. The event will be held on Thursday, November 28 at 15.30 at the Design Factory in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy Campus. The quota of the event is limited to 45 people. The Cultural Values Protection Club will organize the “Judicial Simulation” event between November 29-December 1 (between 09.00-18.00) in the lecture halls of the Faculty of Law at Bahçelievler Campus in order to enable our students to put their theoretical knowledge into practice.

The Turkish Courses Coordinatorship of the Department of Common Courses will organize a talk titled “Human Nature: Violence Within Us" to discuss the psychological and philosophical origins of violence and offer solutions based on the values that make a violence-free life possible. The event, where Psychiatrist Alper Hasanoğlu will be the speaker, will be held in the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall at the Bakırköy Campus Ataköy Building, on Friday, November 29, at 15.00.
