In collaboration with ATAMER, the Atatürkist Thought Club, and the Women's Solidarity Club, a panel titled "Pioneering Women of the Republic" was held on Tuesday, March 10. Moderated by Lecturer Ceren Çilek, the panel discussed the lives, works, and contributions to Türkiye's modernization process of the pioneering women of the Republic: Afet İnan, Süreyya Ağaoğlu, Bedia Akarsu, Hatice Nüzhet Gökdoğan, and Halet Çambel. The event, which featured student presentations, included: Afet İnan's academic work in history and sociology, Süreyya Ağaoğlu's pioneering role in law as one of Turkey's first female lawyers, Bedia Akarsu's contributions to philosophy, Hatice Nüzhet Gökdoğan's work in astronomy and science, and Halet Çambel's achievements in archaeology and sports were discussed. The panel emphasized that the rights and opportunities provided to women by the Republic were embodied in the lives of these pioneering women, and that their determination, courage, and scientific achievements continue to inspire young people today and shed light on the future. |
