Istanbul Kültür University has achieved remarkable success both nationally and internationally, according to the 2025 results of the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR). Our university advanced 529 positions globally, moving from 4,872nd to 4,343rd place, and advanced 11 positions nationally, from 36th to 25th in Türkiye. 

SCImago Institutions Rankings is a prestigious  ranking system that evaluates higher education and research institutions worldwide using indicators based on Elsevier's Scopus database. The rankings are determined by three main criteria: research performance (50%), innovation outputs (30%), and societal impact (20%). IKU’s improvement in these areas is clearly reflected in its remarkable rise in the rankings. 

Additionally, the “Q1” label next to our university's name in the SCImago rankings indicates that Istanbul Kültür University is in the top 25% of all higher education institutions in Türkiye. This classification indicates that our university ranks among the highest-performing institutions in Türkiye in terms of academic productivity, scientific impact, and societal contribution. 

As Istanbul Kültür University, this achievement is a reflection of our strategic efforts to enhance the quality of our scientific research, strengthen our innovation ecosystem, and further our mission of contributing to society. We extend our thanks to all our academics, researchers, and administrative staff who contributed to this valuable success, and we wish for the continued rise of our university in both the national and international academic arenas.

A collaboration meeting was held between Istanbul Kültür University (IKU) Dean of Students and the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) to develop projects that will enable students to act with social responsibility awareness. The meeting was held online on Friday, May 30, 2025, via the Microsoft Teams platform.

During the meeting, detailed evaluations were made on social responsibility projects that will contribute to society, sustainability, environmental awareness, equal opportunities in education, the spread of volunteering activities, and activity models that will ensure the active participation of students.

At the end of the meeting, a consensus was reached on various projects that can be carried out in cooperation with TOG within the university in the upcoming period. In particular, suggestions such as environmental clean-up campaigns, educational support programs for children, social awareness workshops, and planning volunteer activities in rural areas were emphasized.

Participants left the meeting with satisfaction, stating that the joint projects will both develop the students' volunteering culture and provide social benefits. TOG and the Dean of Students will begin work in the coming days to implement the projects.

Senior students of the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema presented the projects they prepared as part of the courses “Graduation Project I” and “Graduation Project II” on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. The presentations marked a significant milestone that not only showcased the students’ skills developed throughout their academic journey but also symbolized the first step in their professional careers.

The jury, composed of Vice Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Bilgehan Ece Şakrak, Assoc. Prof. Remziye Köse Özelçi, and Assist. Prof. Ayşe Duygu Atasoy Aktaş, evaluated the projects in the categories of thesis, feature-length screenplay, and short film.

The Department of Architecture has made a sapling donation through the TEMA Foundation in honor of the students graduating at the end of the 2024–2025 Spring Semester. As a token of remembrance from the IKU Department of Architecture, the certificates of the donated saplings were presented to the students during a ceremony held on Wednesday, May 28 at 3:00 PM in Corridor C, 2nd Floor of the Ataköy building, Bakırköy campus. We wish our graduating students continued success in their professional careers.

The article titled “A Sustainability-Focused Approach to Determining Earthquake Debris Assembly Areas for Istanbul European Side Districts,” co-authored by Assist. Prof. Duygun Fatih Demirel, our Vice Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering, has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Transportation and Logistics.

As part of the “MBG7002 Graduation Project I” and “MBG8002 Graduation Project II” courses taken in the 7th and 8th semesters of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, senior students will present their thesis work in a poster session on Wednesday, June 11, between 10:00 and 15:00 at INNSIDE in the Ataköy building, Bakırköy Campus.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering will organize an "Alumni Panel" on Wednesday, June 11, at 15:30 in the 1st floor multipurpose hall in the Ataköy building of the Bakırköy campus, in order to enable our alumni to share their experiences with our students.
