The live research launch titled "Web 3.0 World Z Report" based on user experience on the "Qankaland" platform, designed as a digital education platform by Istanbul Kültür University (IKU), was held on Wednesday, May 5, at the Önder Öztunalı Conference Hall.
Developed by our university in 2022, Qankaland which relies on artificial intelligence aims to support high school students in their educational development. With this app, available for mobile devices, students can create a free account by selecting a user name and password and after creating their account, they can listen to the lectures, and communicate with their teachers and friends on an online platform.
Our university aims to support high school students as they prepare for the university entrance exam with the "Qankaland" app developed in 2022. The web 3.0-based app, uniting students and teachers in a digital platform, is available to access for free. In the app, students can create their own characters, travel around an island, attend online classes, and communicate with their friends and teachers. They can ask the questions they cannot solve to the teachers and learn the answers. Launch of the "Qankaland" project, aiming to support education, was attended by IKU Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver, IKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yükseltepe, IKU Vice President of Department of Information Systems and Technologies who designed the app and IKU Software Development and Innovation Manager Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay, education content partner and Mathematics Teacher Vural Aksankur from the founding team of Hocalara Geldik, and many other teachers and students.
IKU Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Bahar Akıngüç Günver noted that IKU focuses on popularizing web 3.0-based investments with reliable and noble projects at all levels of education. Dr. Akıngüç Günver encouraged young people to be participants in digital processes, not only as consumers but also as individuals who produce, develop and question in the web 3.0 platform.
"WE AIM TO PROVIDE CONSULTING TO YOUTH"
IKU Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Fadime Üney Yüksektepe said, "As Istanbul Kültür University, we aim to provide a very good education by fusing technology with science. Therefore, Qankaland project is very important. With this project, we aim to provide the technological means to students who will apply to universities in the near future, to better prepare for the exams and to advise them. Web 3.0 is a very new technological advancement that will alter the entire business and education life. IKU aims to develop a new software by investing in this technological infrastructure as soon as possible and to develop projects that will help better the lives of students or everyone in our country. The first of such projects is our web 3.0-based Qankaland project."
"A METAVERSE PLATFORM FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES”
Vural Aksankur said, "The Qankaland project is a web 3.0-based system. In such system, entertainment based technologies are generally utilized. We also took this technology and adapted it to education together with Istanbul Kültür University. Therefore, in this project, we will demonstrate to our teachers and students how schools and courses in a metaverse platform and web 3.0, will be carried out. We can say that it is a metaverse platform for full educational purposes. As you know today, students can access information anywhere, but education is not solely transferring knowledge. Besides knowledge, students need to socialize and obtain personal gain. Today, online information resources are not fully suitable for this, but programs that include web 3.0-based user experience also allows students to encounter this experience in a social environment, interacting with both their teachers and students.
“TOTALLY FREE APP”
Talking about the features of the app, Aksankur said, “Students can study together as a group, ask questions they do not understand much faster interactively to their teachers, and learn. They can hang out with their friends while solving questions all day long without getting bored. Just think about it. They will encounter such a unique experience on here. Unlike a completely free app, it is a platform where students can earn points and crypto money as they study.”
“THE INTERNET HAS BEEN CARRIED TO SUCH HIGHS”
Ahmet Gökhan Uluçay, IKU Department of Information Systems and Technologies Vice President and Software Development and Innovation Manager, stated that the Qankaland project emerged out of a need, and said, “Technological developments, which we have been experiencing closely for the last few years, have altered all sectors. The education sector has been one of the most affected. The internet has been carried to such highs. Concepts such as Web 3.0, artificial intelligence, augmented reality have begun to be used. We are also using these technological advancements as a platform to make the difficult and tiring processes of university student candidates in this learning process more enjoyable and to create it with a more experience-oriented, gamified structure. As a result of this process, we created the Qankaland platform. Qankaland is a web 3.0 project. Web 3.0 is a more advanced version of the internet. Students already use technology, so we decided to offer it to them especially in this field. This is a mobile platform. In this field, it is a first of its kind.”
